In 1968, young newlywed Christine Vaughn Frisina moved to Japan to join her husband who had just been assigned to U.S. Naval Support Facility Kamiseya in Japan. Living nearby in the small village of Chuo-Rinkan, Christine was overwhelmed at times with the exotic customs, culture and cuisine. It was an era when no English was spoken, and the convenience of bi-lingual signage was still years away, and everything was so entirely…different.
